in Legends the readers were introduced to a new enemy, the Yuuzhan Vong. The CIS and Republic are by no means going to work closely together, after all, it'd go against Dooku and Sidious's plans. Canon is exactly what it says on the tin really everything shown on screen in. While the Vong will certainly be stopped, the casualties will certainly be horrific.

The fighters especially are even worse off, CW fighters are no X-wings. Even at the height, the fighters and ships are weaker than the Vong-era ones and on average a fair bit smaller too, Mon Cals and ISDs outmass and outpower Venators, so we can expect the CW capships to have more trouble. At least it's not hitting early war, it'd be against forces without much actual experience fighting.
